The Townsville Academy has had a busy few weeks, jam packed with lots of exciting opportunities and activities. The boys started last week by welcoming one of our partners BOQ into our academy room to run a financial literacy session with a group of our senior boys. The session was extremely helpful to the boys and especially to the handful that have just started part time/casual employment as they were able to teach the boys about how to save money and the importance of budgeting.
The following day the Townsville Academy attended one of our local primary schools Hermit Park State School to run a few activities with their students aged grade 3 to 6. The boys also got a chance to share their Clontarf journey and experiences with the primary school students which was also a great opportunity for the boys to practice their public speaking in front of a larger group. Special thanks to our partners Bank of Queensland for providing such an interactive session for our boys and thanks also to Hermit Park State School for hosting us.
