Meetings
When: The P&C meet on the third Tuesday of each month, March - November.
Where: B block, near the Administration block at 6pm (map info below).
Who: Everyone! Any parent, guardian, or caregiver of a student enrolled in the school, staff plus member of the broader community interested in supporting education, are welcome to join these meetings. We offer attendance online via MS Teams (email us for these details), although when you come along in person you also get to indulge in the delicious treats that our amazing Canteen staff spoil us with!
Upcoming 2025 general meetings are scheduled to take place on:
17 June, 22 July, 19 August, 16 September, 21 October and 25 November.
We hold the annual general meeting (AGM) in March every year.
When you attend meetings, you will learn so much about the school's operational information, educational direction and developments plus financial insights. You will hear about the upcoming projects taking place in our school and be able to provide input and feedback on school policies, activities and more. You'll receive reports directly from the Principal, President & Treasurer of the P&C, tuckshop convenor, student council and be involved in approving any requested items of expenditure.
Being at a P&C meeting can sometimes feel like you're a kid again, peeking into the Principal's office; except now you're invited to come in and relax in the comfy chairs!
Role within the community
The TSHS P&C Association is an integral part of TSHS and we are very proud of the role we play in helping to shape our school to support the students and staff of today and deliver what's required for the up and coming leaders and innovators of the future.
We strive to help provide the best education and wellbeing outcomes for all students of TSHS.
The P&C achieve this by:
- operating the school tuckshop. We employ 4 wonderful staff who together boast over 50 years' experience working within school canteens
- managing the annual V8 Supercar Race public car parking facilities within the school grounds in July, in partnership with school staff and leaders
- providing financial support to students and school groups who are selected for regional/interstate or international sporting, cultural and academic activities through the P&C's 'Student Subsidies'
- assist in funding major school improvement projects
- funding annual bursaries and prizes, school captains' blazers and funding the expense towards buses for school camps and activities, to help towards reducing the cost-of-living pressures to our school families
- representing the needs of the school and region in wider public, community & political forums
- contributing to policy on topics like behaviour management, school uniform, sun safe policy and out of school activities
Our approach to the P&C is to welcome everyone. We understand how busy everyone in our community is, and we do not place any obligation on our members. Rather, we invite every member of the school community to get involved wherever they can. Whatever you can bring to the P&C that will enhance the schooling experience of our community is appreciated. Volunteering a few hours of your time at the Supercars carparking held in July, truly helps make for a successful fundraising event and from our perspective is just as valuable as reviewing reports and financial statement.
The P&C currently has a strong financial position and we have the financial security to now expand on other functions. These might include advocating for parents and students or looking to further support the needs of students such as migrant, wellbeing or socialisation needs.
Each year we elect a new executive committee, and invite any interested members of the school community to reach out to us for more information: P&C Executive Positions Role Descriptions
Our P&C Constitution was adopted by the Principal and the P&C Association at the AGM and is deposited with our parent body, P&C Qld.
