​​Student Support Services Mission Statement

The Student Support Services Department will proactively assist every student in a confidential, safe and respectful supportive community.

Core beliefs:

  • Being proud of yourself, your school and your community.
  • Every student can learn.
  • In Meliora Contende - Strive for Better Things.
  • Student wellbeing is everyone's responsibility.
  • Everyone will feel they belong, safe, valued and respected.

     

We align our philosophy with The Student Learning and Wellbeing Framework in the State of Queensland for the Department of Education. Student learning and wellbeing are inextricably linked - students learn best when their wellbeing is optimized and develop a stronger sense of wellbeing when they experience success in learning. 

  • Acknowledge the importance of wellbeing to the learning process.
  • Develop a rich school culture and positive ethos that creates a sense of belonging and self-responsibility, leading to positive behaviour, improved student attendance and achievement.
  • Embed personal and social capabilities within the general curriculum.
  • Improve educational outcomes for all students.
  • Improve staff wellbeing.​


As the Student Support Services we are Committd to:​

  • Individualise care for each child.
  • Safe and supportive environment with goals and direction.
  • Developing a helping relationship based on acceptance, collaboration, trust, mutual commitment, respect, genuineness, unconditional positive regard and a holistic approach to the student/client.
  • Coordinate services and designate responsibility for wrap-around care.
  • Providing comprehensive home and community based services, supports and partnerships.
  • Offer culturally competent care and eliminate disparities in access to resources.
  • Use of evidence based practices that align with Education Queensland Expectations: Student Learning and wellbeing framework, Trauma informed school, Restorative Practices, Resilience Project, School Wide Positive Behaviours Support Approach (SWPBS), Reward Program: Gotcha and reward trolley and Anti-Bullying processes.
