Townsville State High School will be hosting a Try Tropics Day on Wednesday 24th June. This day will give students in year 4, 5 and 6 the opportunity to try our Tropics Academy Sports, STEM and Performing Arts programs.
Students will need to dropped off at Townsville State High School ready to start at the Hall at 9am. They will then be put into their groups for the day. Parents/carers will then collect their student at the end of the day at 2.30pm.
To register your student please fill out the attached registration form on the back and return it to your primary school office by the 16th of June.
STEM
Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths
The Tropics STEM Academy at Townsville State High School focusses on providing students with opportunities. Town High's STEM Academy students have the opportunity to attend engineering camps, explore neuroscience, design and race drones, 3D printed drag racers and much more. Town High students compete in lots of competitions and recently travelled to the United State of America to attend Space Camp. At the try Tropics day, you will design, prototype, test, engineer, and investigate in order to solve challenges. You will work in teams to problem solve and compete with other teams to create the best solutions.
SPORTS
The Town High Tropics Sporting Program allows students a timetabled class to train in one of the following sports:
- Basketball
- Netball
- Rugby League
- Football/Futsal
With two high-energy training sessions each week, students build skills, fitness, tactical awareness and confidence alongside their teammates. Led by experienced coaches, the program combines quality training, competition and a positive, high-performance culture. We welcome years 4, 5 and 6 students to join us on our Try Tropics Day for a hands-on experience where they will train, meet the coaches and players, and see what makes the Town High Tropics Community so special.
PERFORMING ARTS
At Townsville State High School, students can also take their passion for music, drama, dance, and stage production to the next level through the Tropics Performing Arts Academy. This specialist program is designed for students who are ready to challenge themselves, build real performance skills, and be part of a high-energy, creative team. Students train in a focused environment, developing confidence, creativity, and collaboration while working on exciting performance projects. With opportunities to learn from industry professionals through workshops and masterclasses, students gain real insight into the world of performing arts while building skills that stand out.
